Linea — legal
Privacy policy
Last updated: July 3, 2026
Linea is built by playas.dev, an independent software studio. The short version: we only collect anonymous aggregate product metrics (never your code or prompts), the website counts visits the same way, and the only personal data we ever touch is what Stripe needs to bill a subscription.
1. What the app collects
Anonymous, aggregate product analytics only — via our self-hosted instance of Umami (open-source, cookie-less, running on our own server; the same system this website uses). Production builds may report coarse usage so we can improve the product:
- That a session started and roughly how long it lasted, plus how many terminals, workspaces, and agents you opened in that session (counts only).
- Which coding agents were opened (e.g. claude, codex, grok) and which built-in commands or features were used (command ids like “terminal.new”, never what you typed).
- Whether optional surfaces were used: editor, pull-request pane, command palette, themes, detach-to-new-window, agent-hooks install, and updates.
- Subscription funnel events only (trial started, checkout opened, license installed) — never card details or emails (those stay with Stripe).
- Coarse environment: OS family, UI language, app version. No device fingerprint beyond what the analytics tool needs for a session.
We do not collect your code, files, prompts, project paths, or any account identifier from usage analytics. There is no advertising, no third-party tracker, and no crash reporter that phones home. Debug builds send nothing. We honor the browser/OS Do Not Track setting. Everything you type and open in Linea stays on your machine except these anonymous counters.
- Update checks request a static file that lists the latest version; they do not identify you.
2. What this website collects
The same self-hosted Umami instance counts page views and downloads in aggregate. It does not use cookies, does not fingerprint you, and stores no personal data. No data is shared with third-party ad or analytics companies.
3. Purchases and licenses
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. To issue and renew your license, our billing service stores the minimum it needs:
- A hash of your email address, your Stripe customer and subscription identifiers.
- An anonymous device identifier and an optional device name, used to bind the license to your Mac.
- License status and renewal dates.
Your license is verified offline on your Mac with a public key — the app does not need to contact our servers to keep working. Stripe's own processing is covered by the Stripe Privacy Policy.
4. Emails
We only email you about your purchase (receipts, renewal notices via Stripe) or when you write to us. There is no newsletter, and we will never sell or share your address.
5. Your rights
We operate from Spain (European Union) and honor GDPR rights — access, rectification, deletion and portability. Cancelling your subscription and asking us to delete your billing record removes everything we hold about you.
6. Contact
Privacy questions, data requests or anything else: contact@runlinea.com.
Linea for iPhone & iPad
Linea on the App Store is a free companion to the Mac app. It pairs directly with your own Mac and mirrors your terminals and agents on your phone. It follows the same principle as the desktop app: it collects nothing.
- No account, no purchases. The iOS app has no sign-in and no in-app purchases — any subscription lives with the Mac app.
- Peer-to-peer only. The app connects straight to your Mac, over your local network or an encrypted relay. Your terminals, conversations and code travel only between your own devices — they never reach our servers or any third party.
- Camera. Used solely to scan the pairing QR code shown by Linea on your Mac. Frames are processed on-device to read the code and are never stored or transmitted.
- Local network. Used only to find and connect to your Mac on the same Wi‑Fi for a faster, private link.
- No analytics or tracking. The iOS app bundles no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs.
Want to try it without a Mac? The app's built-in demo runs entirely on bundled sample data — no pairing, no account, nothing leaves the device.
